We will continue our study on longitude/latitude, read/discuss a Weekly Reader in class on continents and a supplemental resource book on the discovery of America. Students will answer comprehension questions in class, and they keep daily notes for Social Studies content for that day. Occassionally, students will have Social Studies homework, and it will be listed in their planners if so.
Science:
We will practice the reading strategy "Monitor and Clarify" using supplemental science readers, as well as continuing our discussion on the first lesson in the Science book. Students will watch a curriculum DVD in class that demonstrates the Science equipment, what it is and how to use it properly. They will complete a Science scavenger hunt in class. Occassionally, students may have Science homework, although we will complete most activities in class. If there is homework, it will be listed in their planners.
Graded papers will be returned to students every Friday, and they are to keep these papers in their Friday Folder to give to you to keep. Please return the empty folder on Monday's. Please let me know if you would like to see copies of the classwork they complete in their journals. A lot of the work in their journals does not get sent home until the end of the school year, although they do receive grades for their classwork.
